What Is GERD? What Causes GERD?

GERD is short for Gastroesophageal reflux disease, which is the more severe version of GER or gastroesophageal refulx. It takes place once the lower esophageal sphincter, also known as LES, unexpectedly opens up at different intervals and closes wrongly causing food or fluids in your stomach to go up to the esophagus.

When you are suffering from GER or acid reflux you’ll be able to taste the contents in your stomach as the come up to the esophagus. The acid that’ll come up with the fluid or food within the stomach produces a stinging sensation once it hits the lining in your esophagus. This sensation will be felt in the chest and/or throat and is known as heartburn. Relentless reflux of more than 2 times a week is considered to be a case of GERD.

Discuss with your doctor if you see that any of your kids are suffering from GER or the more advanced GERD disorder. Cheap Nexium. Normally they’ll recommend doing things to avoid symptoms of relux in infants like allowing the baby to burp once he or she is finished eating.
